Victory for studio boxers at annual Birmingham battle

Latest breaking news at Studio ABC!! Studio have emerged victorious from the annual team match against Birmingham City abc. Clinical performances from James Lee and Jake Birch both of whom were overwhelming winners on the night meant that the cup was handed over to Studio coach Gary Blower and will remain with Studio abc for the remainder of the year. Gary said ” I am very proud of the way both James and Jake performed and am over the moon that the cup is coming back to our gym”.

The coaching team at Studio would like to thank Birminghams most experienced coach Frank O Sullivan of Birmingham City abc for organising the match and look forward to the return visit next year.

They started with 3 but now are down to 1 !! Itchsam hussain lost out in the senior novice championships yesterday 4 to 1, Jamie Phillips also lost with a very unlucky 3 to 2 decision, and Ottis Treasure although below his very own high standards was still a convincing winner with a 5 to 0 decision. Ottis has still never had a single judge vote aginst him in a championship bout and has a very impressive record which now stands at 14 wins from 15 contests. Ottis will box in the Midland semi-final on 27th October in Stafford vs J Ledoux of Impact abc.

Success for Calum Cooper in he’s pro Debut

Former Studio boxer Calum Cooper made a successful professional debut at the Tower Ballroom in Birmingham.

Calum’s high work rate and non stop punching saw him through to a convincing points win over tough Aaron Fox. 23 year old Calum started boxing training as a 15 year old at the Studio gym. In 2010 he won the elite ABA Midland Title. Reaching the National Quarter Final Stages.He was ranked 9th in the welterweight division by The Boxing News Four Nations Ratings in the same year. Calum was a great servant to the club and we wish him all the success he deserves.

Wins for Studio ABC at Droitwich Show

Jordan Thompson and Ant rogan boxed last night (8th Oct) in Droitwich. Thompson faced a very strong and vastly more experienced opponent in Shawn Hewlett. Jordan boxed beautifully with some slick footwork and accurate punching and was a winner on all the judges cards.

Rogan on his debut came up against very powerfully built A Badams and the 3kg Rogan was giving away were very noticable when comparing the size of the two men. Ant started well with strong jabs and controlled the 1st round. He then caused his opponent to have a standing count in each of the next two rounds with blinding combinations and came through a very convincing winner.

2011 Novice Championships Round 1

Three out of four ofthe Studio Novice team have emerged from the Birmingham District stage of the competition. Ottis Treasure, Jamie Phillips, and Itsham Hussain all advance to the Midlands stages. Dave Langstion was unsuccessful on the day but performed very well and can consider himself hard done by not to be in the next round.

Juniors Jake Birch and James Lee both boxed on the support bill and both also came away with convincing wins.

2011 Novice Championships

Studio abc have four reps in this years novice championships. Ottis Treasure (81kg) bids to repeat last years success and win the national title for the second year running. Jamie Phillips(67kg) and Itsham Hussain(60kg) both hope to improve on last years Midland semi-final and midlands final respectively. Dave Langston (86kg) makes his debut at championship level and is in great condition and looking forward to stepping up to the challenge. Good luck to all entries in this years championships.

2011 novice championship preperations
